| As we crossed 500 miles of
flat, rocky desert on the single road from Amman, Jordan to Baghdad,
Iraq, oil tankers outnumbered automobiles. The border crossing
was uneventful on the way there, but on the way back we encountered
a powerful dust storm that lasted most of the ride.
To enter Iraq you must register any electronic equipment you
intend to bring back out with customs. This is to prevent visitors
from buying these items on the black market and leaving with them.
Iraqi currency is greatly devalued due to the economic sanctions
and this equipment is very needed in Iraq. |
